DEDICATED KATHAK TRAINING ACADEMY in Chennai

It is a dedicated institute in Chennai focused on training students in the classical Indian dance form Kathak. Founded in 2015 by Kathak artiste Shritha Baskar and her mother Vasantha Baskar, the academy aims to promote ‘Shudh’ (pure) Kathak through a structured dance training programme.

The academy offers group classes and personalised one-on-one sessions in Kathak for learners of all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced. In addition to dance, it also provides training in Hindustani vocal music, tabla and sitar (workshops or on request), and yoga tailored for dance practice.

Taraana Academy emphasises building a solid foundation in Kathak technique while encouraging artistic growth. It welcomes students aged 5 years and above and conducts regular classes, workshops, and events to make Kathak accessible to all interested learners.
